Hey all --
For those of you just finding, stumbling, or googling me, I'll be working in St. Louis this summer in what I feel is going to be a really revealing internship working with an supplementary education NFP -- www.urbanfuturestl.org
They look like a wonderful group of people with a great, great cause. I feel like I'm going to be wearing a bunch of hats over the next 10 weeks . Many stories to come, I promise.
My purpose here, planting my flag on the interwebs, is basically to talk a little bit about everything -- adventures, encounters, food, affects, styles, dialects, follies, fails, and wins that I come across every workday. I'm an anthropology major (read: dork), so as much as I'm going to be working, I'll also be observing, writing, comparing, and picking apart... so expect the occasional rant or open-ended question. Oh, and pictures. Lots of pictures.
Culture is not something we come across, not some self-contained bloc of behaviors, but instead it's the way we process differences and exchanges. Lets see how this holds up. Granted I'm only halfway across the country from home, but I want this blog to turn into digital fieldwork. Wish me luck.
